Communication and Information Technology in Ulm

Overview

Communication and Information Technology (CIT) is a two-year, english-taught Master's programme which offers a highly research-oriented curriculum, teaching from solid fundamentals and state-of-the-art methods to up-to-date content such as integrated mixed-signal and RF circuits, RF engineering and radar design, wireless communication, signal processing, optical communication devices, and machine learning. Studies start in summer term (usually April). The study programme equips you with the advanced qualifications required to foster the development of modern digital infrastructure and devices. Foundational courses alongside specialized modules offer a comprehensive yet detailed foundation tailored to contemporary fields of interest, enabling students to concentrate their studies based on individual interests. The study programme starts in the summer term.

An orientation programme including intensive German language courses is part of the study programme and begins in March. The study programme boasts a distinct international flair. Since 1998, participants from over 50 countries across the globe have successfully completed the programme. Consequently, fostering intercultural understanding remains a key and organic aspect of our educational mission.

Fast Track

The Master's programme Communication and Information Technology offers fast track admission for GUC-students who are currently enrolled in a Communication and Electronics major at the GUC. Students may apply for the Master in autumn in their 9th semester at the GUC. If admitted, they start their Master's programme in Ulm in spring and take specific courses that can be transferred back to the curriculum of the 10th semester at the GUC. They then graduate from their GUC IET (Information Engineering and Technology) Bachelor's programme right before starting their 2nd semester in Ulm. The fast track saves one semester of study time. Next to the fast track programme, GUC graduates from IET and MET (Media Engineering and Technology) can also apply for the CIT Master at Ulm.

Funding for GUC-Students

GUC-students can profit from a unique funding opportunity in form of a monthly scholarship, provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) through means of the German Federal Foreign Ministry. The scholarship consists of a monthly stipend of 934,00 €, and a one-time travel allowance of 850,00 €. This scholarship might be granted for an initial period of 12 months for the purpose of studying in the Master programme Communication and Information Technology at Ulm University. There is the possibility to extend the scholarship for your second year of studies after a positive evaluation of your study records at Ulm University. Please be informed that the scholarship does not additionally cover the study fees of 1500,00 €/ semester.

  • DAAD application form for Research Grants and Study Scholarships (please contact your study coordinator in order to receive this)
  • Current transcript of records/ Bachelor diploma (if you have already graduated)

The INFOTECH Master’s programme has served the Information Society’s needs for highly qualified and motivated engineers for more than twenty years. 
It offers a unique blend of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology courses within one programme.
It is an English Master’s Programme which has a duration of 2 years, divided into 4 semesters.
The programme offers four specializations:

•    Embedded Systems Engineering

General Information on DAAD Scholarships for the International Master's Degrees in Ulm and Stuttgart

As of February 2023 the scholarship consists of a monthly stipend of 934,00 € and a one-time travel allowance of 850,00 € (lump-sum). The scholarships are granted for an initial period of 12 months. There is the possibility to extend the scholarship for the second year of studies after a positive evaluation of the study records. Please be informed that the scholarship does not additionally cover the study fees of 1500,00 € per semester that international degree-seeking students have to pay in Baden-Württemberg. Scholarship payments for sponsored students are made on a monthly basis to a German bank account.
